About us

Mustangs For Hope is a free, virtual, one-on-one tutoring and mentorship nonprofit program that connects K-12th grade children in South and West Dallas with undergraduate student mentors from Southern Methodist University.

With so many children being negatively affected by school and after-school program closures due to the pandemic, our founder and SMU college senior, Avery Mercurio, was inspired to provide these children with the same level of mentorship and educational assistance that they received before COVID-19. In September 2020, Mustangs For Hope was launched. To date, MFH has worked consistently with over 100 K-12th grade children with the help of over 110 student mentors. We are absolutely thrilled to see our program’s growth as Mustangs For Hope kicks off its second year of tutoring on September 7th, 2021.

Mustangs For Hope stands to foster empowering relationships between K-12th grade children and undergraduate college students through virtual tutoring, mentorship and Christian character models. Our mission remains committed to empowering at-risk children to be intellectually curious, to excel in their academic journey, and to develop strong character reflective of servant-leadership and a “Luke 2:52” four-square lifestyle.
