From Our Founder
“Hi! My name is Avery Mercurio and I am the founder of Mustangs For Hope Nonprofit. Thank you so much for visiting our site. I created Mustangs For Hope in September 2020 with the goal to provide free, one-on-one, virtual tutoring from SMU undergraduate students to K-12th grade children in South and West Dallas who had been negatively impacted by COVID-19 school and after-school program closures. To date, Mustangs For Hope tutors over 120 children with the help of 100 SMU tutors, and our mission remains committed to building a community of mentors who want to invest their time in our future generation’s academic and personal journey. I am passionate about the growth that can come from intentional fellowship, consistent learning and inspiring role-models, and am thankful for my SMU community who has bridged the gap between college students and young learners.
